How to Make Your Perfume Last Longer Throughout the Day

You apply your perfume in the morning, but a few hours later, it seems to have disappeared.

Sound familiar?

How long a fragrance lasts can depend on several things, including where you spray it, your skin, the weather, and how you store your bottle. A few simple changes can help you get more from your perfume.

Apply Perfume to Moisturized Skin

Dry skin may not hold fragrance as well as moisturized skin.

Applying an unscented moisturizer before your perfume gives the fragrance a better base. You do not need a heavily scented lotion. A simple, fragrance-free moisturizer is enough.

Let it settle for a moment, then apply your perfume.

Focus on Pulse Points

You do not need to spray perfume everywhere.

Try areas such as the wrists, neck, and behind the ears. These areas are commonly used because they are warm, which can help the fragrance develop naturally.

There is no need to rub the perfume into your skin.

Stop Rubbing Your Wrists Together

This is one of the most common perfume habits.

After spraying perfume on the wrists, many people rub them together. It is better to let the fragrance dry naturally.

Rubbing can disturb the way the fragrance sits on your skin, so a simple spray-and-wait approach is easier.

Try Your Clothes Too

Depending on the fragrance and fabric, a light spray on clothing can help the scent stay around longer.

However, be careful with delicate or light-coloured fabrics. Some perfumes contain ingredients that may leave marks.

When in doubt, spray your skin instead.

Do Not Overdo It

More perfume does not always mean better performance.

Too much fragrance can become overwhelming for you and everyone around you. Start with a few sprays and see how the fragrance develops.

If you stop noticing your perfume after some time, that does not necessarily mean other people cannot smell it. Your nose can simply become used to a familiar scent.

Store Your Bottle Properly

Where you keep your perfume matters too.

Avoid leaving your bottle in direct sunlight or somewhere with large changes in temperature. A cool, dry place away from strong light is a better choice.

Your perfume bottle may look beautiful on a dressing table, but if that spot gets direct sunlight all day, a cabinet or drawer may be a better home for it.

Give Your Fragrance a Better Start

From moisturized skin to proper storage, small habits can make a difference in how you experience your perfume.

Whether you are wearing Levant Oud, Jasmine Veil, Spylos Amber, Cedar Noir, or another Varelon fragrance, applying it thoughtfully can help you enjoy the scent throughout your day.
